STP- SEGMENTATION TARGET AND POSITIONING




Here we will talk about STP.  STP is not a disease STP is a basic concept of marketing-Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning so friends, we all are not the same. Some people like iPhones while others like Samsung, those who cannot afford iPhones have to take Oppo. Some people like pizzas while others like burgers, Some people need high battery backup in phones while some needs high processing power so that they can play games Marketers understood all these and divided market based on some parameters Based on age, location, likes, hobbies, purchasing power, and many other such factors So when marketers divided all these, this process was termed as SEGMENTATION.

 Now after dividing they will find that their targeting audience who will buy their product comes under which sector, does it require high purchasing power? Our audience is games heavy or our audience needs 4G internet? Marketers divided the market into these factors and identified that which is the best market for them. This process termed it as TARGETING. So what is POSITIONING? Positioning is playing with the minds of customers. To feed in their mind that this product is better than others or this product delivers these services.

 I will let you something new "Khushiyon Ki Home Delivery( delivery of happiness), Tana-na-na-ree Pizza Aaye Free" All these things we see in an advertisement are their Positioning Statements. All these stuff they want to feed in your mind Domino's says "Tana-na-na-ree Pizza aaye free, which means they want to focus that their delivery is done within 30 minutes If it is not done, then that pizza will be free for you Their customer set is: They want everything fast, they don't have time Although nobody has time but audience of Domino's want pizza as fast as possible If we compare it with Pizza Hut, customer of pizza hut is completely different Pizza hut customers like to dine in, who wants to sit and eat, who want waiters and no self-service, Let’s take another example of Volvo. Volvo is known for safety in the world They have done their Positioning as safety car Ferrari: That is a racing car that means their positioning is as a racing car.
